Meet Naomi Bilder
Bilder Studio is an independent creative studio founded and run by me, Naomi Bilder.
I create art-directed imagery for beauty, fashion and lifestyle brands, from individual product images to larger sets and campaigns.
Bilder is my surname, and it also means pictures in German. It made sense to put my name on the studio because I'm personally involved in every piece of work that leaves it.
What I do
My work can start with one image or a full set.
That might mean hero product imagery, macro details, product on skin, still life, on-model imagery, editorial work or a larger campaign.
Whatever the project, I'm interested in making work that feels right for the brand, not like something that could belong to anyone.
AI is part of how I produce the imagery, but it is only one part of the process.
I develop the direction, create the images, choose what stays, refine the details, retouch the final work and check everything myself before it goes out.
What matters to me
I pay a lot of attention to light, colour, materials, casting, texture and composition.
I also think about how the images work together. Even when every frame is different, they should still feel like they belong to the same brand.
I don't think everything needs to look perfect. Perfect often looks fake.
Skin can have texture. Materials can have small imperfections. Not every surface needs to be spotless or overly polished.
I want the final work to feel considered and believable.
What I won't make
- Plastic-looking skin. Skin should still look like skin. Texture, pores and natural details stay.
- Gimmicks. If the idea only works because it looks “AI”, it probably needs a stronger idea.
- Copying whatever is trending. Trends and ready-made templates can be useful references, but I won't just put your brand into whatever everyone else is posting.
- Broken details left in the image. Hands, labels, reflections, materials and typography get checked and fixed properly before anything goes out.
- Perfect to the point of looking fake. I'd rather keep a little texture and character than smooth everything until it stops feeling real.
How I work
Every project starts with a short discovery call.
We talk through your brand, what you need, where the imagery will be used and what you want the project to achieve.
From there, I put together the visual direction and agree it with you before developing the imagery.
Then I create, refine, retouch and finish the work, with feedback built into the process.
Some projects are one image. Others are a larger set. The exact process and timing depend on what we're making.
I only work with a small number of brands at once so I can stay closely involved in every project.
About me
I'm based in Manchester and work with brands internationally.
My background includes art, creative direction, building my own brands and working with materials by hand. That has made me particularly interested in how things look and feel up close.
Texture, light, colour, materials and small details are usually the things I notice first.
AI has changed how the imagery can be produced, but not the part of the job I care about most: deciding what the image should look and feel like, refining it and knowing when it is finished.
About the work you see here
Unless stated otherwise, branded projects in the portfolio are self-initiated concept studies created by Bilder Studio.
The featured brands are not clients, and no affiliation, endorsement or commissioned relationship is implied.
I create these projects to show how I would approach a brand creatively and what that could look like in practice.
Client work can also be shared privately where confidentiality allows.
AI is used as part of the production process for the imagery on this website. Creative direction, image selection, refinement, retouching and final checks are handled by me.
You can see the full projects in Work, and more about the ideas and process behind them in the Journal.
